Tornado debris gets new life (Tuscaloosa News)

June 10, 2012 – …The Alberta Gathering Place is a mini-amphitheater of sorts, with a concrete stage at the center, surrounded by multi-level seating for around 75 people. It is covered with multi-colored shade cells supported by carved columns.
Solar lights shine down into the cut-outs in the wood, which remain natural at the base. There will also be covered picnic areas with tables and benches.
Around 75 percent of the materials used were salvaged from downed trees and structures damaged in the April 27, 2011, tornado that leveled much of the Alberta area. The wood beams that support the shade cells, for instance, were collected from Hurricane Creek…
